Jude Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
Service Designer Do you love designing thoughtful, user-centered experiences that make a difference? At Jude Digital, we're all about solving complex problems in creative ways, working collaboratively to deliver digital solutions that genuinely help people.
We're looking for a talented Service Designer to join our growing team. You'll play a key role in designing digital products for clients across government, not-for-profits and private sectors. If you're a team player with a knack for drawing out meaningful research insights and translating these into beautiful, practical digital services this could be your next adventure.
What you'll do: Assess the current state: Analyse the current user experience of digital products and services informed by customer feedback, data analysis techniques, and insights from market trends. Use this to map the current user journey, identifying key pain points and opportunities for improvement. Set up user research practices: Establish good research hygiene practices including developing research plans, diverse recruitment criteria, consider inclusive participation, interview moderation guides and survey questionnaires. Dig into research: Talk to users to explore why current services aren't working for them and understand their core needs and goals for how people want to interact with services. Use those insights to make smarter, more impactful design decisions. Design the future state: Lead co-design workshops with stakeholders that help ideate the future state experience of a product or service. Bring ideas to life through blueprints, future state journey maps and design artefacts that illustrate future concepts and key experience moments. Document research and design: Create service design artefacts that help visualise the future state and provide a clear evidence base between research insights and current pain points to how the future designs address these, to ensure a seamless handoff to UX and UI designers. Champion accessibility: Bring inclusivity to the forefront of your work. You'll conduct research and service design activities with accessibility in mind, ensuring everything you do keeps inclusive design practices at its core. Co-design with stakeholders: Work closely with clients and team members to collaborate on the future state, facilitate co-design workshops and presenting your ideas with clarity and confidence. You'll make sure everyone's on the same page—and just as excited as you are. Think holistically: As a service designer, you'll need to step back from the details at times to look at the big picture, considering how digital products fit into broader service journeys and consider the layers that underpin this experience from end users, supporting staff, business processes, systems and data. What we're looking for: Experience and skills: User research skills across recruitment, interviews, surveys, affinity mapping, and research insights. Service design or business analyst skills across user journey mapping, blueprinting, persona development, and process mapping. Professional experience conducting user research, with a strong understanding and ideally experience of user-centered service design activities. Proficiency with workshop and journey mapping tools like FigJam and Miro. The ability to create journey maps that communicate the current and future user experience of a digital service. Solid skills in user research, mapping, insight report writing, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder communication. Collaboration and adaptability: A team player who loves working with others to solve problems and deliver exceptional results. Experience working in Agile environments, adapting quickly and contributing to iterative processes. A continuous learning mindset, actively seeking to learn and adapt to emerging tools and technologies within the digital design landscape. Clear, thoughtful communication skills, whether you're chatting with clients, presenting work, or collaborating with other designers and developers. Familiarity with designing for government agencies, with an understanding of accessibility and compliance requirements.
Experience working to improve how users find and understand content.
Emerging technology: Interest in leveraging AI and other emerging technologies to fast-track processes and enhance digital experiences. Why you'll love working at Jude: Projects that matter: You'll design for real people, solving real problems, and creating solutions that make a difference. Flexibility that works for you: Based in Canberra, it's not uncommon for us to be working remotely, we'll support the way you work best. A team that's got your back: You'll join a group of curious, creative, and supportive folks who love what they do—and have fun doing it. Space to grow: We're big on learning and development. You'll have opportunities to sharpen your skills and explore exciting challenges in UX. Due to the nature of the work at Jude, we require our team to hold Australian Government Security Clearances.
