About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced DB2 Database Administrator to manage and optimize the performance, integrity, and security of our client’s database environment. This role includes hands-on database support, system improvements, and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide operational support for IBM DB2 Server database environments.
* Collaborate with development teams and vendors to resolve issues and implement service improvements.
* Follow change management processes and industry best practices for database support in both test and production environments.
* Ensure BAU services are prioritized and maintain SLAs by addressing incidents and problems efficiently.
* Work with Security Analysts to develop and implement DB2 security policies.
* Manage installations, upgrades, and software maintenance with minimal business impact.
* Execute failovers for database and application services as needed.
* Create and maintain support documentation for operational processes.
* Participate in the release and transition of new database services.
Requirements:
* Hands-on experience with managing, installing, and configuring single and clustered DB instances on various OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-Unix).
* Strong database creation, tuning, and parameter-setting skills to meet business requirements.
* Familiarity with third-party monitoring tools for database management.
* Proficiency in DB2 and at least one of Oracle, SQL Server, or WebLogic in high-availability and disaster recovery setups.
* Expertise in tuning DB parameters and configuring database backups.
* 2+ years of IT Operational Support experience, including production support for IBM DB2 (9.x/10.x) in Linux/AIX environments.
* Understanding of disaster recovery/high-availability technologies like SAN replication, HADR, QRep, and VVR.
* Experience supporting business-critical databases and applications.
* Proficient with ITSM ticketing systems (e.g., Support Works, Remedy) and familiar with SLAs.
* Knowledge of the ITIL framework, particularly in incident, problem, and change management.
