The Organisation
Leading global manufacturer of mechanical, electronic and pneumatic components. The primary customer base is the rail and mining industries. Based in Western Sydney, the site is a manufacturing and service operation with 200+ employees onsite. This is an assembly, workshop, industrial manufacturing type of environment. The volumes are very much project based. There is also a large service component where customers will send back components for repair, service and overhaul. This role will sit in one of the engineering teams that look after the brake systems for rolling stock.
The Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer you will have a wide range of responsibilities spanning from maintaining technical documentation, CAD work, quality investigations, working with different processes such as heat treatment and coating. Your primary role will be predominantly supporting internal customers such as quality, production, industrial engineering, sales engineering etc.
1. Mechanical product design.
2. Technical documentation preparation (2D drawings, 3D models, technical specifications, maintenance manuals etc.)
3. Product testing and validation.
4. Product support and maintenance.
5. Evaluate product manufacturability.
6. Collaborate with manufacturing teams (quality and assembly) to help develop processes which comply with product design.
Skills and Experience
7. Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or similar.
8. Minimum 5 years' previous experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
9. Previous experience working with metal manufacturing processes sheet metal, castings etc.
10. Proficiency using 3D CAD software such as SolidEdge, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or similar.
11. An analytical, process-driven and methodical approach to work.
