About the Role: Join our team as an RPN 3 on an ongoing full or part-time basis, working across a 7-day roster with AM and PM shifts Mon-Fri, AM only on weekends.
The RPN 3 role is diverse and rewarding and will call on a full variety of your mental health nursing skills in a community based, sub-acute setting.
You may travel to other Monash Health hospital and community site settings for assessments, and support admissions to access our local pharmacy as required.
Key aspects of the role include: Undertake detailed mental state examinations and lead the day to day clinical care for all admitted participants Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, family and carers as indicated Work collaboratively with the on-site clinical team, and partner with Wellways Australia to deliver holistic, recovery orientated mental health care Support admissions with their medication management Engage with care planning across a 14-day stay Partner with Wellways across the admission assessment phase and into discharge planning to ensure all admissions and discharges are safe and timely About Us: Monash Health has 5 PARCs (Prevention and Recovery Care), with Springvale (SPARC) being our only female only, sub-acute, residential mental health facility that provides care to women who require ongoing support after a hospital stay (step-down) or enhanced care if coming from the community (step-up).
PARCs are staffed by a multidisciplinary clinical team (Drs, RNs, Social Work, Psychology) in partnership with Wellways Australia and incorporates comprehensive support, assessment and delivery of evidence-based treatment and onward referral for women aged 25 and above who reside in the Monash Health catchment area.
PARCs have a very broad referral criteria and women can self-refer for support if they are struggling with their mental health.
The RN role is primarily based at the Springvale site, but the team travel to the hospital for intake assessments and work very closely with our community and in-patient teams to deliver safe and supportive care as required.
About You: To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: Passion for working in mental health and an interest in women's mental health Capacity to work both autonomously and as part of an allied health team Capacity to provide detailed mental state examinations and to liaise with clinical and community based teams Sound understanding of recovery orientated mental health frameworks Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships: Required a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing – or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse.
Demonstration of appropriate competencies and skills for this role Has a minimum of 2 years full time equivalent mental health experience in mental health nursing, following completion acquiring sole qualification as a mental health nurse or completion of post graduate mental health nursing qualification.
