Avondale University is seeking an experienced Data Analyst on a 12-month contract. Hours are negotiable in the range of 30-38hrs per week and remote working arrangements will be considered.

This exciting opportunity will have you supporting the enhancement of business intelligence capability at the university and utilising your expertise in problem solving, analysis of data and business issues to support data reporting for all levels of the organisation that is accessible and functional for users. The position provides for staff release to focus on a current student management system implementation project.
What will you do?
* Compile, report, analyse and disseminate data related to the University within confidentiality and privacy constraints on dissemination of some data;
* Identify processes and reports for efficient data error correction across business units.
* Participate in the timely production of official data supplied to meet the Universities statutory reporting requirements, including the extraction of reports from the Student Record System and coordination of data error correction by business users and process owners;
* Liaise with other business areas who have responsibilities for producing data for the Data Collection to ensure there is a coordinated approach to the production of data and the submission of the data to end users;
* Assist in ensuring the integrity and reliability of databases through the development and implementation of data auditing and editing processes;
* Undertake detailed analysis of data within the Student Management System in consultation with key stakeholders and contribute to the implementation of best practice reporting to support business process redesign, documentation, technical specifications and the development of training to address data quality issues;
* Participate in the configuration, testing, and documentation associated with statistics from the University systems;
* Support the university in managing broader data quality, such as training programs, upgrade testing and system documentation.

Selection Criteria
* Tertiary qualifications in information management, statistic, data science, business analytics or a related field.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively within a collegial team environment.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently to produce outputs to specified standards within defined timeframes.
* Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks with conflicting priorities.
* Demonstrated capacity to interrogate, manipulate and interpret data to provide meaningful reports; liaise effectively internally and externally; present clearly, succinctly and with a strong customer focus; and develop networks to analyse use requirements for reports, forms, queries, and data extraction.
* Demonstrated capacity to define complex problems and establish frameworks to identify possible solutions; readily apply tools, concepts and research; synthesise results; identify issues related to problems and the consequences of possible solutions; draw on relevant facts and opinions from a wide range of sources to make accurate and timely decisions and explain clearly the path to decisions; and work in a manner consistent with University strategies and objectives.
* Possess the professional or technical skills needed to perform the position purpose and duties as detailed above including strong technical ability to analyse, document and report statistical data; experience in implementing data quality assurance processes in the context of business process analysis and design; broad knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices; strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices; and an understanding and ability to apply the principles and practices of contemporary project management.
* Knowledge of and experience in the design and use of computerised information systems, including the production of complex reports as well as literacy in computer programming skills.
* Demonstrated high level skills and experience in using word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer software packages including Excel, SQL and Microsoft Power BI.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
* Cooperate with all occupational health & safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken and ensure that their actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others at the University. Promote a safe work place and identify unsafe practices.

Desirable Criteria
* Experience with a Student Record System and associated student administration functions in a higher education environment.
* The ideal candidate would have previous experience as a data analyst using SQL and related tools.
