Stellar Pool Operations Supervisor
Primary PurposeThe primary purpose of this role is to oversee the daily operations of the pool facilities and Learn to Swim program, ensuring a safe, clean, and high-quality aquatic experience for all participants. This includes maintaining facility cleanliness, managing pool operations, coordinating staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role also involves optimizing the Learn to Swim program through high-quality lesson delivery, staff training, and customer engagement, all while fostering a positive and professional environment. Additionally, the position plays a key role in risk management, workplace safety, and continuous program improvement in collaboration with the Stellar Operations Manager.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Operational
Maintain cleanliness of all pool facilities including the pool deck and plant room. Undertake regular inspections of the pool facilities and equipment, taking appropriate actions to address any issues that are identified. Take appropriate actions to ensure the ongoing success of our current Learn to Swim program by holding a full understanding of the program and how it is to be delivered. Assist in the day-to-day delivery of our Learn to Swim program both in and out of water to ensure all lessons are delivered to a high quality. Show initiative to improve and grow our Learn to Swim program in-line with industry standards and implementing new opportunities for growth in collaboration with the Stellar Operations Manager. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of our pool plant room operations, managing the pool plant to ensure appropriate dosing of the pool to maintain water quality in line with relevant regulations and safety standards.
Staffing
Prepare all work schedules for Swim Instructors, Deck Managers and Lifeguards to meet operational needs. Monitor and address staff performance in order to provide coaching and performance management as required. Offer regular staff training and relevant professional development opportunities. Ensure all rostered staff hold all certifications required for their role. Ensure all staff are compliant with relevant policies and procedures to their role, including legislation regarding safeguarding of children.
Learn to Swim Classes
In collaboration with the Stellar Operations Manager, set and maintain a schedule for swimming lessons which meets operational needs and customer expectations. Review the Learn to Swim lesson plans, updating them as required to ensure our program is best in class. Ensure all instructors are delivering lessons in line with the provided Learn to Swim lesson plans to a high quality at all times. Maintain a regular schedule of class assessments, ensuring that parents and guardians receive regular feedback regarding their child's progress in our program. Assist all prospective Learn to Swim customers with their enquiries to enable them to book ongoing swimming lessons in our program. Review all customer complaints and feedback and work collaboratively with the Stellar Operations Manager to provide all responses and take any required corrective actions. Ensure that all Learn to Swim customers are supported with their membership needs, offering a high level of customer service.
Workplace Safety
Take responsible care to protect safety and health at work. Ensure that no person is endangered through any act or omission at work. Ensure that correct use is made of all equipment provided for health and safety purposes and advise the Stellar Operations Manager of any maintenance issues. Obey all instructions issued to protect the health and safety of Stellar staff and members. Continuously monitor and identify all potential WHS risks and take appropriate action to eliminate them. Report all accidents, incidents and hazardous situations arising in the course of work to Stellar Operations Manager and fill out the appropriate report form. Report or make recommendations to the Stellar Operations Manager to avoid, eliminate or minimise any accidents, incidents or hazards. Be aware of and conform to all laws that affect professional practice and recognise the importance of duty of care, public liability and professional indemnity and make referrals to other qualified professionals when participant/client needs exceed scope of knowledge. Ensure pool records are completed as per legislative requirements. Keep work area clean and tidy. Ensure that staff are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs while at work.
Education And Experience
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Significant knowledge and experience in pool operations. Current Swim Australia Teacher, AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, Royal Life Saving Teacher or equivalent required or willingness to obtain. Current Lifeguard certification or willingness to obtain. Current CPR certification required. Current First Aid required. Current WWVP registration required. Previous Swimming Instructor experience desired. Previous pool testing experience desired. Ability to follow policies and procedures and to concentrate on tasks in the presence of distractions. Able to understand and follow instructions. Ability to provide instructions to employees under their supervision. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Able to operate pool plant equipment appropriately.
