Somerville has a rare opportunity for a Director of Finance to join our executive team in Darwin. Manage the organisation's financial and accounting policies, procedures and systems including, financial advice on all budgets; banking and financial management, grant management, monitoring of assets register; management of all ATO audit, compliance, internal controls and superannuation requirements; management of organisational audit. The position also provides advice, support and education to Somerville Managers and Coordinators in the financial aspects of their respective responsibilities. Selection Criteria: Experience in financial and management reporting, accounting and payroll. The ability to consult regularly with the COO and CEO regarding all pertinent matters for the management of Somerville's Accounting and Financial Management. Experience with quarterly reporting to the COO identifying all areas of responsibility and authority. Consult and liaise regularly with members of the Somerville Management Team. Prepare for and attend monthly Management Team meetings. An ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative professional relationships and networking with all internal and external stakeholders. Show a commitment to supporting and adhering to Somerville's Work Health Safety policy and practice, support, interpret and reinforce organisational policies, procedures and safety regulations to all employees. Proven creative and effective management, leadership and teambuilding skills. Ensure all duties undertaken by staff under your management are carried out in accordance with their respective duty statements and to a high level of professional competence. Ensure appropriate representation of the Management Group at relevant internal meetings. Represent the Organisation at functions and conferences as requested by COO. Attend Board meetings as requested by the CEO. Demonstrated advanced knowledge and skill in the use of software applications including the full range of current Microsoft Office programs, accounting applications and databases. Highly developed written and oral communication, negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills. Highly developed organisational, time management, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and meet the demands of multiple tasks. Demonstrated high level of professionalism in the confidential management of all organisational, participant and employee information. Commitment to the principles of workplace diversity. Desirable Criteria: Previous experience in the not for profit sector, or a demonstrated appreciation and understanding of community-based organisations.
