About the role
Mater Health is looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant - Surgical Clinical Reviewer (SCR) which involves a combination of clinical expertise, data management and leadership to enhance surgical care on permanent, full-time basis at our South Brisbane campus.
This role is integral to achieving an advanced level of patient care, improving surgical practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within Mater Health Services. By consulting with various stakeholders, the SCR is there to collect dependable data to inform the provision of high-level of quality care to patients.
* Review individual patient records, surgical notes, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative outcomes to evaluate quality of care.
* Detailed analysis of surgical procedures, patient demographics, complications and recovery.
* Application of critical thinking, advanced problem-solving skills and expert clinical and non-clinical judgement in supporting the overall management of the service.
* Identifies streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.
* Responsible for the collection and submission of reliable data to the American College of Surgeons Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP); through high quality data compilation, documentation, and entry into the ACS NQIP database of all eligible surgeries for the hospital.
* Provide timely, accurate, innovative and high standard of support for quality processes including data accuracy and analysis, comprehensive reports resulting in sustainable quality improvements and outcomes.
* Utilises software applications for data collection and analysis.
* Prepare and present relevant reports to medical directors, senior clinical staff and regulatory bodies, outlining findings and areas for improvement.
About you
* Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Tertiary qualification in specialty, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards).
* Relevant experience in a surgical or operating theatre background is essential.
* Working knowledge of theatre management system ORMIS and content management system VERDI, REDCap and basic computer platforms.
