About the role
:
The Community Nurse works independently managing a clinical caseload of around 25-30 clients in conjunction with referrers, aged care services, specialists, and carers. Clients may attend a clinic, self-care with coaching, or receive care within their home environment. Typical tasks include the management of complex and chronic wounds, management of IV medications via PICCS/TIVAD’s, post-op drain management, PEG changes, Catheter management, and navigating referrals to other Community Services and GP Liaison. Community Nursing is always changing, and the team are always learning new skills.
The Community Nursing Team works alongside the Nelson Bay Specialist Community Palliative Care Team. There is the opportunity for the new team member to develop skills in this area.
The suitable candidate will be supported through corporate and site orientation as they develop and build upon their existing knowledge. They will attend online learning as well as skill and competency assessments with our Nurse Practitioners. Some experience of managing wounds and working in the community are highly desirable.

1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.

14. You will be able to demonstrate some basic experience in community health/wound care/aged care.

16. You have will be an experienced RN capable of managing a caseload of clients and working both as an independent practitioner and a team member.
