The Role
The role of the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for providing occupational therapy services to transition care clients within Amana Living’s residential care facilities. They assess the therapeutic needs of the residents, plan person centred interventions that aid the resident to maintain or improve their functional performance and deliver and evaluate these therapeutic interventions. This position is based at our Wearne Home in Mandurah.
This role is offered on a permanent part time basis working 16 hrs per fortnight.

Key responsibilities:
8. Conduct comprehensive assessments that identify the client’s functional capacity, strengths, and lifestyle goals.
9. Provide recommendations for client care and report writing.
10. Enhance the quality of life and independence of Amana Living clients by delivering evidence based occupational therapy interventions.
11. Contribute to the development of holistic, individualised, client focussed care plans in partnership with the resident and their carer/advocate and Amana Living team
12. Contribute to the development and monitoring of therapeutic activity programs in assigned residential care sites. This includes ensuring compliance of the occupational therapy program with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards.
13. Provide individualised therapy services, including equipment prescription to enable older people to maintain functional capacity, prevent deterioration, maximise quality of life and to re-engage with community activities.
14. Completion of pain management interventions in accordance with ACFI requirements.
15. Regularly review and evaluate client therapy plans to ensure identified goals are achieved and quality of life and healthy ageing promoted.
16. Maintain current knowledge of contemporary occupational therapy techniques and healthcare issues, and ensure all clinical practice is in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, professional code of ethics, professional code of conduct and available evidence.
17. Ensure all documentation is timely, accurate and maintained and actioned in accordance with the Amana Living Clinical Governance Framework, organisational policies and procedures and confidentiality agreement.
18. Consult with Amana Living staff in a multi-disciplinary manner including making recommendations for involvement of other allied health professionals.
About you
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in program development and the delivery of evidence based occupational therapy interventions within the Aged Care or Services sector. Will be able to show Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously in a complex environment, characterized by competing demands and tight timelines.
Essential Criteria:
19. Evidence of COVID-19 and Current 2024 Flu vaccinations per Amana Living policies
20. Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance (within 6-months validity)
21. Successful completion of pre-employment physical and reference checks
22. Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) Degree
23. Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).
24. Must be willing to attend a 2-day Induction based at our Amana Living Training Institute from 8:30am-4pm.
25. Previous experience working with people living with dementia.
