Systems and Governance Officer (Payroll Projects) | South Brisbane | Local Council

The purpose of this role is to support all activities related to the Payroll continuous improvement project, ensuring operational compliance with internal policies and procedures, legislative and taxation standards.
Your new role
* Under the guidance of the Business Improvement Officer and People and Culture leadership, investigate and analyse issues identified in the Payroll continuous improvement project.
* Utilise knowledge of current payroll practices and award compliance interpretation to resolve identified improvement opportunities.
* Perform system updates to employee records and transactions in SAP Payroll, SuccessFactors, and Kronos as directed by the Business Improvement Officer or Payroll Coordinator.
* Extract data from SAP Payroll, SuccessFactors, and Kronos, and prepare or assist in preparing analyses using MS Excel tools.
* Engage directly with affected current and former Council employees regarding implemented opportunities and communicate agreed outcomes.
* Maintain substantial and current knowledge of Payroll and Kronos systems and their interfaces.
What you'll need to succeed
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Comfortable handling large volumes of data in Excel
* Comfortability in using Excel, including key functions such as applying formulas/calculations and pivot tables
* Previous experience in a data-extraction role
* Strong knowledge and understanding of the application of Industrial Awards and Agreements, as well as relevant legislation and regulations governing payroll and superannuation.
* Proven organisational and time-management skills to meet agreed deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a strong focus on providing quality customer service.
* Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite, including an intermediate level of expertise with MS Excel, and experience with electronic payroll systems such as Oracle, SAP, time and attendance software, or similar Human Resource Information Systems.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment.
