Our client is a vertically integrated agricultural commodities business with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities on the east coast of Australia, sourcing domestically grown produce to create world class commodities. They operate within domestic and export markets and have a number of exciting growth opportunities for their business portfolio that offers a diverse pathway for their commodity trading team.
The Position
Working closely with a broader, developed Trading Team as a Commodity Merchant you will be responsible for activities across Southern NSW’s Riverina region to connect with growers and accumulate on behalf of this household name. The Commodity Merchant will operate with autonomy to engage with growers in line with the broader businesses trading strategy to consult with growers on regular pricing information, trade terms and logistics options to ultimately purchase product and supply our clients processing facilities.
You will develop a close understanding of the regions supply, demand, pricing and market trends to provide up-to-date market intelligence to our clients trading team, and be the first point of contact for all commodity trade activities in your portfolio. You will actively communicate information within the team to assist with formulating a commodity accumulation strategy that fits within a broader trading strategy and represent our client at a number of industry events and field days.
The Person
To be successful in this role, you will have 3+ years experience working in a commodity trading environment, ideally exposure across trading, logistics, grower engagement or supply chain functions. Experience within the grains and oilseed industry would be beneficial, as well as a developed knowledge of local farming networks and logistics operators to assist with broader business activity. Understanding of GTA Trade rules would be beneficial, otherwise training will be provided to assist with growth in the role.
You will be extremely driven and focused on achieving results, whilst being a strong team person. You will be able to lead from the front and be willing and capable of communicating effectively at all levels within the industry.
