About you:
You are a qualified Registered Nurse with advanced clinical practice skills who can lead with confidence and integrity to deliver a high, quality service with the primary focus on achievement of organisational goals for the good of others. You have demonstrated ability to apply well developed interpersonal and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment, including negotiation, consultation, and conflict resolution and knowledge of quality improvement processes and activities and ability to apply validated research in ongoing improvements of clinical practice.
Your opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who provides specialist palliative care nursing at an advanced level to inpatients with a life limiting illness focusing on assessment, comfort and holistic approach to the patient and family. The Clinical Nurse role includes Team leader responsibilities, mentoring and education to less experienced team members. The role provides support to clients of the community palliative care service with weekend home visits and out of hours phone support as required. The role includes opportunity to gain community palliative care service experience e.g., leave relief and ward / community role rotation.
Your role:
1. Influence and promote high standards of clinical practice within a multidisciplinary team.
2. Practice collaboratively and provide clinical leadership within the interdisciplinary health care team to promote the safety, security and personal integrity of individuals and groups.
3. Provide clinical leadership for professional and clinical practice, education, and research in conjunction with the Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator.
4. Accountable for planning, provision and communication of nursing practice including the evaluation and required revision of practice, and for staff and client safety across a shift.
5. Maintain sound knowledge of relevant legislation, guideline and standards specifically relating to nursing practice and ensure safe, appropriate application of same.
6. Undertake quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities to ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective patient care.
