Development Control Engineer Purpose of the Position: As a Development Control Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that developments comply with Council policies and industry standards. You'll play an important role in managing risk, protecting Council’s infrastructure, and ensuring the appropriate approvals are in place for developments. You will be involved in the review and approval of development applications, managing licenses, and assessing construction activities impact on Council assets. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Assess and issue permits for construction activities that impact Council’s infrastructure (e.g., road openings, vehicle crossings, and hoardings). Supervise and assist developers working on Council assets such as roadways and reserves. Conduct Damage Deposit Inspections and ensure developments do not damage Council’s assets. Follow up for repairs if damage occurs. Manage administrative tasks related to Damage Deposits, including the release of bonds when appropriate. Assess development applications and provide recommendations regarding engineering consent requirements or reasons for refusal. Key Challenges: Analyzing and solving problems while presenting practical solutions that meet operational and technical needs. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Managing time effectively to meet deadlines and ensure project success. Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) procedures at all times. Essential Qualifications & Skills: A tertiary degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent). Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence. Experience in assessing construction-related applications, including vehicular crossings, road openings, and hoardings. Basic knowledge of traffic engineering principles and construction processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
