About the role
We are currently seeking 1x Skilled Field Operators in our Public Spaces Maintenance team on a 12 month temporary full-time basis at the Gipps St Recreation Precinct.
In this role, you will undertake all duties associated with the safe driving of Council vehicles, minor plant and transport of persons, equipment and materials, and assist with general labouring and other duties, at the Gipps St Recreational Precinct
This position operates on a 76-hour fortnight with a Rostered Day Off once a fortnight and requires a commitment to ongoing training, flexibility and multiskilling within the Public Spaces Maintenance area to develop and maintain the required skills and competencies of the position.
Daily tasks may include:
* Cleaning/Maintenance – Bins, BBQs, General Litter, Playground Cleaning
* Inspections/Audits
* Handiwork
* Turf Management / Grass Maintenance
* Customer Service
* Incident Response (breakages, spills, making areas safe)
* Assistance in Bathroom Cleaning
This position will require knowledge and use of mobility application/devices. The occupant may be required to work across any of Council’s Depots as directed. This position operates on a 76-hour fortnight with a Rostered Day Off once a fortnight.
There are two crews on the site – each crew consisting of a Skilled Field Operator and a Team Leader for each day. Flexibility will be required as rosters may be reviewed depending on service requirements.
Weekends will be serviced through overtime roster.
Crew 2
Monday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Tuesday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Wednesday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Thursday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Friday 10:00am – 6:30pm (RDO)
Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of all aspects of operation and maintenance of trucks, vans and trailers including loading, securing and unloading (both mechanical and manual means)
* Demonstrated experience in general labouring duties
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
* Competencies in the use of various items of small plant
* Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White) Card
* Current Class C driver licence
Desirable Criteria
* Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture, cleaning operations or related area
Commencing salary: $59,282.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation and an Adverse Working Conditions Allowance in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
