Teaching - Primary (Education & Training)
Make school irresistible! Use real-life research projects with open-ended learning challenges to trigger students' questions for rigorous research.
Blue Gum Community School is a unique small school in Canberra offering programs from birth up to 16 years, i.e. Playgroups through to Year 10. Our school continues to grow. So we need another outstanding Primary School teacher.
In our teaching/learning model, 2 full-time classroom teachers work together in a multi-age class of 25 students. Specialists in music/drama, visual arts, sport, outdoor education & LOTE also work with each class. Commencing from Kindergarten, all students and teachers fully immerse in outdoor education experiences, including annual camps lasting 2-5 days.
Specialist spaces you can tap into include a stunning new Music & Sound Recording Studio, as well as a Science Laboratory, Black-and-White Photography Darkroom and Visual Arts Studios. An amazing state-of-the-art Maker Space is scheduled for construction early next year.
Blue Gum attracts dedicated teachers who are passionate about seeing all students as competent, capable, creative, responsible, resourceful and resilient. Our teachers work hard to set up physical learning environments that are full of intrigue and thought-provoking; consequently they are irresistible to, and invite immersion by, students.
Blue Gum is an exciting place for learning where students explore the rich possibilities of childhood, while becoming independent and interdependent.
Blue Gum is a school community which nurtures creative, independent thinkers - students, teachers and parents. Students' diversity is welcomed as a rich resource for learning.
Blue Gum's ethos is grounded in the Australian tradition of 'a fair go' - a strong commitment to social justice, especially the right of each student to feel valued; develop a sense of belonging; and be equipped with the essential academic and interpersonal skills for success and a meaningful life with others. Blue Gum is not religion-based, though families' differing beliefs are respected.
