Community Environment and Lifestyle - Environmental Health and Regulation | Agriculture/Horticulture/ForestryPermanent Part-Time opportunity available (14.50hrs/week)Cert III in Companion Animal Services, or equivalent experience with the ability to obtain.Working with Children Blue CardLGO2 ($34.05 - $37.08 per hour + superannuation) based on skills, qualifications, and experienceAbout the RoleThis position plays a key role in providing frontline service to the Townsville Community on behalf of the organisation through the provision of timely and accurate information, processing of lost animals, reuniting owners and pets, and the care of animals in the shelter, and working collaboratively across Council to champion our purpose of Growing Townsville and to deliver the Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville Community.The role will participate in coaching, mentoring, and training to ensure appropriate and sufficient skills and knowledge are developed to be effective in the general husbandry of all animals in care and to ensure animals are reunited with their owners.This position is part-time, working 14.5 hours per week across Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm and Saturday 8am to 3pm.This role is fast-paced and predominantly field-based and will provide coverage to front counter services when required.About YouOur ideal applicant will have proven experience in animal husbandry, animal handling, and the animal industry with an advanced level of knowledge and skills to critically assess the behaviour of dogs and cats for suitability in rehoming.You will have strong cross-platform communication skills providing mentorship and support to a team of Animal Care Attendants on Saturday, whilst applying sound judgement to make decisions about animals within the facility.How to ApplyYour application can be submitted through the 'Apply' button.
