Role Description
The Clinical Nurse Specialist Haematology Outpatient Day Unit role plays a pivotal part in providing effective clinical management of the Haematology Outpatients day unit.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day running of the day unit, including scheduling of patients, management of activity and acuity, specialist coordination of processes and protocols, and coordination of care and treatments.
To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional clinical skills, demonstrated through the provision of high-quality patient-centered nursing care.
The ideal candidate must have advanced nursing skills, proven strong leadership skills, professional knowledge, and judgment to provide a high standard of assessment, clinical care, and expert advice.
* Plan appropriate care in consultation with the patient and multidisciplinary team
* Timely, complete, and accurate documentation of nursing care and patient's progress
* Perform comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients
* Ensure medical and nursing instructions are correctly performed
* Foster and promote a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care within the hospital
* Excel in analysis and insight when dealing with complex situations
* Prioritise and implement planned care to achieve expected outcomes of established priorities
* Provide education and information to patients and carers which facilitates their understanding and self-care
The successful candidate will be a registered nurse authorised to practice by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and have relevant post-registration qualifications and at least three years' experience working in haematology.
The selected individual must also demonstrate ability to manage the Day Unit's activity and acuity and critical thinking to address problems and apply a range of options to develop solutions.
