The Opportunity:
The IT Project Manager is responsible for the technical and business aspects of KBR IT related projects, including staffing, budgeting, planning, risk management and administrative tasks. KBR clients have an increasing reliance on IT products and services, often supporting concurrent solutions pertaining to the land, maritime, air, space and cyber domains. The IT Project Manager will engage with existing clients, senior management, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that in-flight KBR projects are completed on time and on budget. The IT Project Manager will be expected to have a working knowledge of defence IT systems, including classified products in services in use within both strategic and deployed environments.
Additionally, the IT Project Managed will be expected to support KBR interests in the development of new business opportunities across existing projects. This includes representing KBR at key forums within the project pertaining to both delivery of existing services, and prospective new work. The IT Project Manager will work closely with the leadership within the Mission IT and Security Solutions reporting directly to the Program Manager of Strategic Systems to ensure that customers’ requirements are understood by KBR and engage with prospective customers to support growth initiatives.
The role requires a high degree of autonomy and a collaborative approach to working in a team to develop solutions that will ultimately promote growth and capability development in the Mission IT and Security Solutions line of business.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
1. Manage and maintain existing client relationships, including the continued delivery of existing projects
2. Construct project plans with agreed milestones, scope and budget with the client where new work is agreed
3. Recognise and mitigate risks and issues within the project, including task dependencies
4. Liaising with strategy and delivery teams to determine solution execution and implementation approaches, risks and mitigations
5. Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies, leveraging lessons learned for future initiatives
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, operations, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless execution and integration of program components
7. Provide updates to stakeholders on solution/product development processes, costs and budgets
8. Assess the business impact of technical and policy choices when making recommendations
9. Draft and contribute to all Commonwealth required document deliverables such as Support Services Management Plan, Performance Measurement Reports and the Program Execution plan
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential:
10. 5+ years of progressive experience in defence project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects
11. Deep understanding of defence systems, technologies, and industry regulations; familiarity with government contracts and acquisition processes
12. Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in guiding multidisciplinary teams toward common goals
13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to diverse audiences
14. NV1 Security clearance (with the ability to upgrade to NV2 if required)
Desirable:
15. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred but not essential
16. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of making data-driven decisions in complex and dynamic environments
17. PMP (Project Management Professional) or relevant certifications in program management are desirable
18. Sound knowledge of defence operations
