Umwelt has a strong portfolio of work across renewables, resources, extractive industries, infrastructure, urban development, government and defence.Now is an exciting time to join Umwelt and be an integral part of the journey, as we expand the Water Services group, which includes integrated surface water and groundwater technical services.Umwelt is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Water Engineer specialised in surface water environmental studies and help grow and expand our Water Services group.About the RoleAs Principal Water Engineer, this role will involve leading and completing technical projects, providing technical guidance and ensuring delivery of work across surface water environmental projects nationally. Typical projects include (but not limited to) surface water impact assessments to support renewables projects, site water balance modelling, flood studies, erosion and sediment control, water security studies, ecohydrological assessments, mine closure studies and management plans. The role also includes opportunity for business development and/or technical innovation to help facilitate delivery of integrated technical projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical leadership through the delivery of surface water projects, and support the growth and success of the surface water team, in collaboration with managementContribute to business development activities and the growth of a national surface water team.Demonstrate and deliver on technically accurate data analysis and reportingManage and deliver medium to large-scale projects from proposal to completion, building strong client relationships and communicationProvide expert advice on surface water/water issues, regulations, and best practicesCollaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other technical disciplines (i.e. ecology, social, cultural heritage and spatial analysis) to develop innovative and tailored solutionsProvide positive leadership and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative, productive and fun work environmentAbout YouDegree qualifications in Engineering (Water).Minimum of 8 years of experience in water/environmental consultingSound capabilities in managing water related projectsStrong leadership with a people focus, thriving in a fun, friendly environment that values work-life balance, while delivering innovative, high-quality technical workAbility to distil complex information and tasks to be able to communicate to a broad audienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environmentWhat’s In It for You?We care about our people and want to help you grow in your career.
