Location Profile The Wodonga Flexible Learning Centre has a student population of approximately 140 students ranging from Year 7 - 12. Wodonga FLC believes that every student has a right to an education and that all students can achieve their goals and provide educational opportunities for young people who have disengaged from mainstream education.
We are looking for a teacher who can easily adapt to an ever-changing environment, be flexible in their teaching and learning practice and can positively respond to the challenges of an alternative approach to meeting student needs. The students that attend the North East Flexible Learning Network have a number of influencing factors including but not limited to:
Long term disengagement from education. Low level Literacy and Numeracy skills. Low learning confidence. Diagnosed and undiagnosed disabilities. Mental Ill-health. Traumatic experiences in their past and/or present. Rural and remote student who need to travel a significant distance to attend school. Out of home care. If you are not truly passionate about working with disengaged youth, our school and this job are not for you.
Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2: Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3: Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4: Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5: Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Responsibilities The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions; Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
