About the role
As a Residential Youth Worker within our Interim Care team, you will provide direct care and supervision to children and/or young people who are currently in a transitional care placement. You will be required to engage with the Children & Young People in our care in a therapeutic and trauma informed manner that supports them to learn independent life skills, develop problem solving abilities and fosters appropriate and positive relationships with others.
Successful candidates will be required to have flexibility to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster of support and will be responsible for promoting a safe environment and actively participating in and encouraging activities that support the development of the children and young people.
Positions are available on a Permanent Part Time and Casual basis with our Glenmore Park home.
Role requirements:
* Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma and disadvantage (Ideally within a residential care setting)
* Demonstrated experience in developing positive developmental relationships that build trust with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement, and to place the best interests of the child at the centre of all interactions
* Understanding of the importance of family/kinship connections to children and young people in placement
* Willingness to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care (if required)
* Demonstrated peer support, problem solving and conflict management skills.
* Availability and willingness to undertake all shift types, including afternoons, sleepovers and weekends.
* Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011)
* Current Australian Drivers Licence
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
