Aged & Disability Support (Community Services & Development)
Full time
Salary: $35/hour + weekend penalties & sleepover allowances
We are looking for a genuine, friendly and caring support worker to join our Mount Isa team. RedDoor Community Services is a small niche NDIS provider specializing in going-the-extra-mile with our clients.
We custom-design care plans in consultation with clients and their stakeholders, to ensure they are empowered and engaged in their supports and life.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate an interest in our clients, and passion and care for supporting and inspiring others.
* Identify and engage clients who have disabilities (majority of existing clients have psychosocial disabilities) and may also have traumatic backgrounds.
* Undertake sleepover shifts and personal care for some shifts/clients.
* May include providing mentorship and employment supports for younger clients.
* Transport clients safely using RedDoor company vehicles.
* Take initiative to arrange meaningful activities and social outings, undertake acts of daily living, meal preparation, personal care and domestic duties for, or with, the client.
* Build positive relationships with clients, families, and community stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate client records for every appointment and undertake all electronic checklists required as part of the role.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in disability work, aged care, youth work, or a related field is desirable.
* Relevant qualifications in disability support work, aged care, youth work, or a related field will be advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to persevere with those who struggle with communication or connection.
* Ability to work independently, and cooperatively as part of a team.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Blue and yellow card clearance and current first aid.
* A valid driver's license.
What we look for
* Passion for working with people and empowering them to reach their potential.
* Desire for personal growth and receptive to feedback.
* Willingness to adapt to changing needs of the organisation as we flex to accommodate our clients and staff the best we can.
* Understanding of the challenges faced by those with psychosocial disabilities, and disadvantaged youth.
* Cultural sensitivity and non-judgemental attitude.
* Willingness to learn new methods of support offered by RedDoor and MultiSkill Centre.
What we offer
* Highly competitive hourly rates, penalties and allowances.
* Access to NFP salary packaging opportunities.
* Extensive online development available to do at your own pace.
* Mentoring in areas you require, rather than one-size-fits-all training.
* Use of company vehicles for transporting clients.
* The opportunity to focus on clients rather than bureaucracy with red tape.
* Supportive and inclusive team with open communication.
