About the Position
Reporting to the General Manager of Governance, Legal and Risk, as Risk and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for management and operational oversight to achieve best practice in Risk Management and Compliance to meet legislative or organisational requirements across the organisation.
This newly-created role involves supporting the implementation of the Risk Management Framework, maintaining the Risk Register, and developing risk management tools and procedures. This includes preparing management reports, delivering risk management training, and having experience in key strategic risk areas such as safety, and cyber security.
Additionally, the role requires leading compliance efforts, coordinating policy reviews, ensuring legislative and regulatory compliance, and addressing non-compliance issues. Responsibilities also include managing data governance, privacy policies, and organisational insurance.
The position of Risk and Compliance Manager is a senior key point of contact within the Governance, Legal and Risk Team.
About the Person
The ideal candidate will bring strong subject matter expertise on best-practice risk and compliance frameworks, policies and procedures ideally as it would relate to an organisation like Vinnies that works closely with vulnerable people, in a charity/non-profit sector environment.
You will bring:
1. Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role as a senior Risk & Compliance Specialist or Manager
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications (Law, Commerce, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field)
3. Proven experience in risk management, including implementing risk frameworks and maintaining risk registers, and ability to develop and manage risk management tools, policies, and procedures; ideally aligned to the key focus areas noted above.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and facilitate change across multiple stakeholder groups; underpinned by a diplomatic approach and confidence and experience working with Executive and Board stakeholders.
5. Strong conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills; strong Microsoft Office and database skills
6. Experience working within a similar NFP/Charity will be highly beneficial, but is not essential.
7. Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
