The Role and HospitalThe Anaesthetic Unit is a collaborative team environment, the Staff Specialist Anaesthetist will provide exceptional anaesthetic services within a multi-disciplinary team of medical officers and nursing staff to patients.The Staff Specialist Anaesthetist will ensure that patient care is centred, safe and timely. Key responsibilities of the role include providing specialist-level anaesthetic services, fostering relationships with colleagues and other hospital specialists, providing clinical leadership, supervision and teaching of junior medical staff, participating actively in audits, clinical meetings and safety activities.Sub-specialty interests can be facilitated (eg chronic pain, ICU). Surgical procedures performed annually include ENT, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology and Ophthalmology.The state-of-the-art Intensive Care Unit opened in November 2018 with 8 ICU/HDU beds. RequirementsApplicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABA certified) or New Zealand.
