Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor CCTV cameras and other surveillance systems to detect and prevent theft, fraud, and other illegal activities within retail environments.
Conduct regular patrols of retail stores, including sales floors, storage areas, and external perimeters, to deter potential theft and ensure the safety of customers and staff.
Investigate suspicious activities, incidents of theft, and other security breaches by reviewing surveillance footage, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence.
Detain individuals caught stealing or attempting to steal merchandise, following legal procedures and protocols for handling suspects until law enforcement arrives.
Implement strategies and best practices to minimize losses due to theft, fraud, and other security risks, including educating staff on loss prevention techniques.
Work closely with local police and other law enforcement agencies to report incidents, provide evidence, and support investigations related to retail crime.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of all incidents, including writing reports on thefts, suspicious activities, and other security concerns.
Provide training to retail staff on security protocols, theft prevention, and how to handle incidents, ensuring that all employees are aware of the store’s loss prevention policies.
Assist customers in a friendly and professional manner while remaining vigilant to any potential security risks, ensuring a safe shopping environment.
Ensure that the store complies with all legal and regulatory requirements related to security and loss prevention, including data protection and privacy laws.
Education: High school diploma or GED is typically required. An associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field is advantageous.
Certifications:
Cert I & II in Security Operation (mandatory required)
Loss Prevention Qualified (LPQ) and Loss Prevention Certified (LPC) from relevant organizations.
Requirements:
WA security officers license required.
Work Location: Local to Geraldton, WA.
Experience:
Relevant work experience in security, law enforcement, or related fields.
Customer service experience (helpful).
Direct experience in loss prevention, including surveillance systems and investigation procedures (highly preferred).
Physical and Personal Requirements:
Physical fitness (for patrolling or responding to incidents).
Understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
High level of integrity and ethical standards.
Additional Considerations:
Background checks (often required).
Possible licensing or permits depending on the region.
