It focuses on empowering customers to take charge of their decision-making, helping them achieve their plans, goals, and aspirations in collaboration with their families and carers. The role ensures compliance with National Disability Service Standards and relevant Child Protection legislation while actively advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.We are looking for a Teacher's Assistant who can be available on short notice, including same day. The on-call days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at a nearby primary school.A Day in the Life of a Teachers Assistant Develop appropriate, supportive working relationships with each child and their families/carers.Provide support which reflects the Disability Services Standards, Child Protection and other relevant legislative requirements and to report any potential breaches to Aruma management.Follow and implement Work Health & Safety guidelines and instructions.Undertake administrative tasks necessary for the role including maintaining appropriate documentation and systems to safeguard the wellbeing of each child supported and ensuring customer confidentiality is always respected.Use relevant communications and technology systems, including those for reporting incidents and for creating/maintaining service and customer records.Skills and experience that will make you stand out Minimum Certificate III in Early Education & Care or equivalent.Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and professionally with Aboriginal families and to develop strong links with the local Aboriginal community.Experience working with children with a disability/developmental delay and their families, including families with complex needs.Sound level of computer literacy - experience with Boardmaker an advantage.Current NSW driver's licence.Current First Aid/CPR Certificate.Current Working with Children Check.Willingness to undertake an Aruma Probity Check including NDISWSC and Police Check.What we offer:Competitive Salary Package: Be rewarded for your hard work with an attractive salary, plus a phone and laptop.Salary Packaging: Increase your take-home pay.
