Since its inception in February 2023, MHACS has been a pivotal service in supporting complex mental health consumers. We’re looking for a Peer Specialist to help us continue providing the essential, recovery-focused care that our community needs.As a Peer Specialist at MHACS, you will play a crucial role in assisting consumers through the ‘Peer in, Peer out’ model, which fosters trust, encourages engagement, and promotes recovery. Under the supervision of a clinician, your 'lived experience' and practical support will empower individuals to navigate their mental health journey, achieve their recovery goals, and feel connected to their community.What You’ll Do :Facilitate peer support, building trust and supporting consumers' recovery and self-management.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated care and promote cultural sensitivity.Assist consumers in understanding recovery, managing mental health, and achieving their wellness goals.What You’ll Bring :Personal experience in mental health recovery, with the ability to provide compassionate, non-judgemental support.A commitment to empowering others through lived experience and working collaboratively with clinicians and teams.Experience in health / mental health settings (including with Aboriginal consumers) and proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong stakeholder liaison skills.Ready to make an impact?If you are excited about the opportunity to support others and be a part of a dynamic team, we’d love to hear from you!
