About the role The successful candidate will support our ‘Streetgym’ initiative that provides young people (12 to 18 years old) with an opportunity to engage in activities in their own neighbourhood as well as work on personal, social, and educational development aspects of their lives. The successful candidate will also support the delivery of Alternative Suspension. A program to address educational disengagement and the underlying causes, establish ongoing support pathways and plan successful returns to school for students currently on, or at risk of, school suspension. You will be responsible for planning and delivering programs and activities that promote the well-being and growth of youth in the Broken Hill community. • Develop and implement engaging programs and activities. • Provide individual and group support to young people, addressing their needs and concerns. • Foster a safe and inclusive environment where all youth feel valued and respected. • Collaborate with other professionals, such as schools, local council, and community organisations, to provide comprehensive support. • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make necessary adjustments. • Maintain accurate records and documentation of youth participation and progress. • Advocate for the rights and needs of young people within the community. You will be responsible for planning and delivering programs and activities that promote the well-being and growth of youth in the Broken Hill community. About you Your passion is to positively impact young people's lives by helping them navigate challenges and achieve their potential. You do this by creating supportive communities and fostering a sense of belonging among young people. • Formal qualifications in Youth Work, Psychology, or a related field. • Previous experience working with youth in a community or school setting • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to build positive relationships with young people and their families. • Knowledge of issues affecting youth, such as mental health and wellbeing • Experience in program development and evaluation. • First Aid and CPR certification. • Licence and access to own vehicle This is a truly rewarding and rare opportunity for someone to leverage the Y’s Streetgym initiative to deliver critical youth work in the Broken Hill community.
