difference and to contribute to the sustainability and growth of Sydney by undertaking varied, interesting work within a team environment.Our dynamic and closely-knit team has played an intrinsic role in the successful delivery of a diverse array of projects spanning from the regeneration of Green Square to the pedestrianisation of George Street.As we venture into the next 5 years, our focus will be on future transformative projects including the revitalisation of our three city centres at Circular Quay, Town Hall and Central, and the enhancement of the City's bike networks and open spaces.You will be responsible for a variety of work in the property and projects legal team which will include providing specialist projects and construction law advice to support the City in the delivery of its capital works and public infrastructure projects, including:Providing quality legal support in the areas of construction law, contract law, property law, policy and other legal areas arising out of Council's operations.Evaluating and advising on complex construction law and contract law issues, including project specific contracts, design and construct, construct only, consultancies, major and minor services, and determining strategies to effectively manage legal and strategic risk.Interpreting relevant commercial and construction legislation (for example, the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999).Managing construction related disputes and briefing external lawyers or counsel where required.Establishing and maintaining relationships with key internal and the City of Sydney apart.About youYou will be a senior solicitor with substantial post-admission experience (at least 4 years PQE) in projects and construction law, with a focus on front end work and experience in dealing with project delivery issues (including construction disputes), gained either in private practice or in-house.Knowledge and experience in advising on property law issues, particularly as they relate to project development, will be looked upon favourably, as will an interest in public law.Strong organisational, negotiation and problem-solving skills are essential.You will be capable of working in a high volume and busy environment and managing competing priorities.Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage deadlines and to work as
