The role: Reporting to the Head of Payroll, as Payroll Manager for salaried staff, the primary function of this role is to provide effective leadership, coaching, and guidance to a team of Payroll Officers. This will ultimately deliver high-quality, efficient, and effective payroll processing and transactional services across the business. Key duties will include:
* Leads a team of Payroll Officers to process and execute fortnightly payroll efficiently and effectively on time, every time.
* Ensures that appropriate sign-offs for any and all pay runs are documented, saved, and circulated. Utilises Paytools, to ensure a complete and well-governed sign-off every pay run.
* A strong advocate of Workday HCM, partners with HR Services Manager to ensure systems are synced and data is accurate across both systems.
* Responsible for team performance by using metrics, benchmarks and SLAs. A strong advocate of ServiceNow and associated performance dashboards.
* Provide advice, mentoring, and coaching to Payroll Officers in order to develop their skills and abilities in the role. A strong focus on providing advice, guidance and mentoring to Payroll Officers to ensure deadlines are met and the payroll service is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
* Interpret awards/agreements and contracts in order to provide advice to Payroll Officers and staff.
* Perform a broad range of complex and advanced payroll transactions and processes including but not limited to long service leave reconciliations, redundancies, severance payments, sick leave, over/underpayments.
The candidate: To succeed in this role, you will need a combination of the following skills and experience:
* Substantial payroll experience in a large organization (2,000 employees+), including end-to-end payroll processing.
* Proven ability to understand and interpret payroll legislation and processes including, tax and superannuation.
* Demonstrated accuracy in data entry with a high level of attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
* Proactive and results-driven with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement best practice processes.
* Excellent customer service, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of an organisation.
The job offer: Up for grabs is a base salary of $150,000 + 17% super, a very generous WFH balance of 3 days per fortnight in the office, with the remaining time as work from home, plus a small bonus scheme plus ongoing training & development.
