The Position
The Die-Setter/Plastics Technician/Technician is responsible for conducting all necessary preparations, set-ups and troubleshooting on Injection Moulding Machines, to ensure machines are running efficiently as possible with minimum downtime and waste. This role requires quality routine tasks on the production line, keeping equipment and work area clean and in good condition and following strict safety guidelines. Success in this role is measured by achieving minimal downtime, minimal NCRs and production targets across machines resulting in a best-in-class business reputation for which we strive. This role requires working with the staff at all levels of the organisation and working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Production
* Set up, operate and troubleshoot injection moulding machines.
* Ensure all die changes and setups are completed quickly and accurately with minimum downtime, including colour changes as per the production plan.
* Perform quality tests and ensure that all products manufactured meet the required standard.
* Identify any issues and implement corrective action plans.
* Respond to faults and breakdowns such as attending to IML issues.
* Develop and implement preventative action plans.
* Perform maintenance according to the procedures on injection moulding machines and Dies as scheduled and required to optimise and maintain machine cycle times.
* Maintain production records, logbooks, finished goods reports and other relevant documentation.
* Assist the Operators with the efficient running of the production equipment.
Continuous Improvement
* Maintain an accurate record of non-conformances and downtime.
* Manage waste reduction.
* Contribute and support planned preventative maintenance of moulds and machines.
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.
Housekeeping
* Ensure the work area is clear of rubbish and store away any unwanted or finished IMLs.
* Machine is cleaned and free from debris.
* Complete the cleaning checklist at the end of each shift.
Safety
* Wear appropriate PPE (hair net, beard net (where applicable), safety boots, AYVA Golf Shirts, long pants).
* Follow site-specific safety guidelines.

Qualification & Experience
* High School Certificate (HSC) or Certificate in Process Manufacturing.
* Solid mechanical knowledge.
* Experience with die setting, insert changes and machine start-up and shutdown.
* Proficient in the use of In Mould Labelling.
* Experience with troubleshooting to maintain our accepted quality of products.
* Maintaining cycle times.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Current forklift license.
* The ability to work autonomously.
* Be self-driven and a self-starter.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Good reading and writing skills.
* Intermediate computer skills.
* Basic calculating skills.
