Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Technical Director to join our Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning Team in this rewarding Darwin-based role.
Our successful and growing Environment Team works across fields including environmental impact assessment and planning, terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecology, contaminated land assessment, management and remediation, sustainability, and waste management.
With GHD, you will be connected to a global network of passionate environmental scientists, engineers, planners, and professionals with diverse technical and cultural backgrounds. We work collaboratively with our clients to facilitate sustainable developments in future energy, water infrastructure, linear infrastructure, mining (including closure planning) and Defence operations.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
1. Interpreting, developing and advising clients on International, National and State/Territory environmental legislation and policy, including provision of advice and direction regarding relevant regulatory frameworks and project approval pathways.
2. Undertaking environmental impact assessments, construction environmental management, operational phase monitoring and development of offsets and approvals strategies.
3. Work within multi-disciplinary project teams, managing and delivering projects on time and within budget and to required quality standards.
Maintaining relationships with clients and regulatory agencies and leading the delivery of proposals and technical reports for clients.
4. Assisting in mentoring and training of junior staff.
What you will bring to the team?
5. Bachelor’s degree in science, Environmental Science or similar.
6. Minimum of 10 years professional experience in environmental impact assessments, with at least 2 years in a similar role at the Senior/Technical Director level.
7. Demonstrated track record in the planning, coordination and delivery of effective environmental assessment, planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
8. Knowledge of NT and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy.
9. Excellent technical writing, communication and project management skills.
10. The ability to mentor, grow and develop junior team members to continue the successful growth of the team.
11. Proven business development, networking and client relationship management skills.
