ABOUT THE ROLE As a promising early career researcher, you will have an ambition to work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers to research and develop new deep learning models and techniques for detecting sugarcane weeds in remote sensing images. The position will also involve designing and delivering training materials for the ARC Training Centre in Plant Biosecurity. In this role, you will also work closely with the project industry partners, Sugar Research Australia, while also taking a strong role in research activities across the Centre including but not limited to involvement in different projects in the areas of deep learning and remote sensing, as well as co-supervising Centre PhD students. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Completion of a PhD in a related field with skills in remote sensing and/or deep learning. Evidence of outstanding research ability, including innovation, creativity and timely completion of tasks. Emerging reputation for research excellence and academic achievement relative to career stage and opportunity, as evidence by publication history. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Ability to effectively manage a number of competing priorities.
