South Western Sydney is seeking a talented and dynamic District Coding and Classification Manager to complement the Health Informatics and Decision Science team within Digital Health. You will be comprehensively across the clinical coding function within hospitals, have outstanding communication skills to negotiate successful outcomes and a passion for positive service transformation. Exposure to other Activity Based Funding (ABF) classifications will be highly regarded. These include the Australian Emergency Care Classification (AECC), Australian Mental Health Care Classification (AMHCC), Australian National Subacute and Non-Acute Patient Classification (AN-SNAP), Tier 2 Non-Admitted Services Classification (Tier 2). What You'll be Doing The District Coding and Classification Manager is responsible for overseeing the Clinical Coding service and Activity Based Funding (ABF) patient care streams, ensuring comprehensive, accurate and timely translation of clinical documentation / data values into appropriate code sets in accordance with district, state and national guidelines. The ABF patient care streams classifications include: Admitted acute: ICD-10-AM and Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs). Emergency Care: Australian Emergency Care Classification (AECC). Admitted sub-acute and non-acute: Australian National sub-acute and non-acute patients (AN-SNAP). Admitted Mental Health (MH): Australian Mental Health Care Classification (AMHCC). Non-admitted (excluding MH): National Tier 2 Non-Admitted Service Classification (Tier 2). Excellent leadership and management skills. Able to understand complex processes, multitask, plan, prioritise and time-manage. Demonstrated sound clinical coding knowledge and experience using ICD-10-AM, the Australian Coding Standards and the 3M Encoder. Activity Based Funding exposure, together with an understanding of class derivation for sub-acute / non-acute, emergency, mental health and non-admitted care. Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in developing reports, identifying trends, issues and risks to enable early responsive action. Experience in the use of eMR (electronic medical records), patient administration systems and Microsoft Office. Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Capability to manage expectation, motivate, build rapport, influence, de-escalate and negotiate successful outcomes. Continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to learn and adopt new methods and procedures including working in areas of limited precedence.
