Are you a strategic storyteller who can turn complex ideas into clear, powerful messages that move people to action? Do you love shaping campaigns with purpose at their heart?
At Diabetes Australia, we’re looking for a Senior Copywriter to lead high-impact content development across Diabetes Australia and all our programs, departments, member engagement, and public awareness campaigns. You'll play a key role in crafting and evolving our brand voice, developing messaging frameworks, and ensuring every piece of content is clear, consistent, and aligned with our mission to reduce the impact of diabetes in Australia.
This role reports to the Content & Creative Lead and sits within our in-house Content & Creative Studio, working closely with Campaign Managers, Designers, and Paid Media leads to create content that connects and converts.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a passionate and collaborative Content & Creative team, delivering work that makes a real difference.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the development of clear, engaging, and strategic copy across digital, social, print, video, and email channels
2. Craft high-impact headlines, CTAs, landing pages, and messaging that drive audience action
3. Translate complex health, research, and program content into accessible, audience-first communications
4. Shape and evolve Diabetes Australia’s brand tone of voice and maintain messaging consistency across all touchpoints
5. Provide editorial oversight, quality control, and strategic input to campaign messaging
6. Collaborate with Campaign Managers, Designers, and Paid Media leads to develop content that resonates and converts
7. Build messaging frameworks for major national campaigns and programs (such as NDSS) and National Diabetes Week to name a few.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
1. Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
2. 5–8+ years' experience in communications or content development roles
3. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across short and long-form formats
4. A strong understanding of content strategy, performance marketing, and audience journeys
5. Outstanding attention to detail — with a knack for maintaining brand consistency and messaging clarity
6. Experience delivering high-quality work in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments
7. Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
8. Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams and projects
Bonus points if you also bring:
1. Experience in health, not-for-profit, education, government, or other purpose-led sectors
At Diabetes Australia, your words will matter. You'll help amplify the voice of the diabetes community, inspire change, and build connections with audiences across the country. Join a collaborative, values-driven team where your creativity, strategy, and impact are truly celebrated.
