These roles offer a unique opportunity to work closely with hospital staff, students, and families, supporting young people facing health challenges while ensuring the continuity of their education.In this independent role, you will provide 1:1 and small group learning both at bedside and in the classroom, with support from a teacher aide and guidance officer. Each position is 0.6 FTE (three days a week) to ensure continuity of learning for students during their hospitalisation. Non-contact allocation for this position is in line with primary/special school teachers award.Location: Cairns Hospital, Paediatric Ward (Teachers on staff at Woree State High School)Position Type: Temporary, Part-Time (22/04/2024 - 05/12/2025)Key Responsibilities:Deliver tailored learning programs for students from Prep to Year 12.Work with students individually and in small groups, both at bedside and in the classroom.Build positive relationships with students and their families to support their educational progress.Collaborate with a teacher aide and guidance officer to deliver the program effectively.Partner with a range of stakeholders including DoE staff, Queensland Health staff, and families.Ensure smooth transitions for students returning to their base schools or other learning pathways.Ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Commitment to supporting students' educational needs in a hospital environment.Case management experience is highly regarded.This position requires vaccination against preventable diseases as per Queensland Health's workplace requirements.
