The Role
ALS Water operates a modern laboratory in Scoresby, equipped with the latest in analytical technology. This is a casual opportunity for a Laboratory Technician with chemistry credentials to join our client-focused team in a Tuesday-Saturday shift role, 10am - 6pm .
The successful applicant will receive training and support in the technical components and procedures of the role and in a wide variety of processes associated with working in a modern laboratory. There will be a variety of tasks including manual handling.
The day to day
1. Manual handling up to 15 kgs - trays
2. Preparation and analysis of water and soil samples
3. Completing tasks accurately, within set timeframes
4. Organising daily work to optimise efficiency and meet turnaround requirements.
5. Maintaining equipment, including calibration and cleaning.
6. Contributing to a clean, tidy and organised lab environment.
7. Assisting with Ad-hock sampling. sample receipt and house-keeping tasks.
8. Manual handling up to 15kg.
The Essentials
9. One year’s relevant experience (a degree or diploma preferred).
10. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
11. High level attention to detail.
12. Good chemical knowledge.
13. Ability to work autonomously or in a team.
14. Ability to plan and organise work.
15. Ability to complete manual handling tasks.
16. Judgement and problem-solving skills.
17. Client service focus.
18. Positive attitude to safety requirements.
19. Appropriate level of aptitude on the tests allocated.
