The Regulatory Reform and Implementation (RRI) team manages ASIC's policy and law reform projects (other than markets-related).
RRI pursues strategic initiatives that shape the regulatory framework to achieve ASIC's mandate and implements law reform initiatives.
The team leads and delivers end-to-end processes to effectively implement law reform projects, including ASIC operationalising law reform.
This includes both managing large law reform projects and supporting law reform projects being led by other teams.
This team is also responsible for maintaining ASIC's stock of Regulatory Guides and legislative instruments (class orders), and leading or supporting the development of new regulatory guides and legislative instruments (as needed).
The role
As An Adviser / Lawyer, You Will
Contribute to regulatory policy projects in alignment with ASIC's strategic objectives and provide input on Treasury responses and government initiatives.
Develop policy and provide implementation advice on law reforms, legislative changes, and emerging regulatory issues in consultation with senior managers.
Support data-driven decision-making by identifying methods to effectively collect, manage, and communicate regulatory insights.
Collaborate in the end-to-end process of law reform projects, assisting in operationalizing reforms across ASIC.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on sector-specific legal and regulatory issues, contributing to improved regulatory outcomes and impactful law reform.
Engage with internal teams and external stakeholders, including Treasury and other government agencies, to support coordination and regulatory implementation.
About You
You have a relevant tertiary qualification and a strong understanding of the Australian financial system and ASIC's regulatory functions.
Your experience includes analysing, interpreting, and applying legislation, assessing regulatory changes, and developing clear, practical policy responses.
You are adept at drafting legal and policy documents, including briefings, regulatory guidance, and submissions.
With a strong grasp of regulatory frameworks and government processes, you can navigate complex legislative issues and contribute to law reform initiatives effectively.
In addition to your technical expertise, you bring strategic thinking, strong stakeholder management, and excellent communication skills.
You can clearly present complex legal concepts, ensuring key stakeholders engage with regulatory changes.
Your collaborative approach, ability to influence decision-making, and capacity to build productive relationships ensures successful policy implementation.
Adaptable and proactive, you manage multiple priorities with a solution-focused approach, delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
