School of Chemical Engineering – Faculty of EAIT Full-time (100%), fixed-term position up until 14 November 2025 Base salary will be in the range $80,523 - $89,505 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 5) Based at our St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Administration Officer based within the School of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of EAIT. This wide-ranging role offers a dedicated professional the chance to develop valuable skills and experience while supporting the School of Chemical Engineering's dynamic teaching, cutting-edge research, and impactful engagement activities. Key responsibilities will include, but is not limited to: Working as part of the Student and Academic Services team, assist with student and staff teaching enquiries, assist course coordinators, and provide efficient and effective administrative assistance associated with undergraduate and postgraduate coursework. Coordinate relevant events, including the School research seminars series and scheduling meetings with visiting researchers and provide administrative support for the School's research activities. Provide governance support to relevant School Committees. Assist with the overall efficiency of the School by providing support, and backup to other members of the School professional services team, including the School Executive Assistant, as required. Undertake reception duties, answer general inquiries from staff, visitors, and students and support the purchase of office supplies and other relevant procurement. Sound knowledge of the University’s administrative systems, policies, procedures and practices or an ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, would be advantageous. Demonstrated ability to effectively use the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Knowledge of the University specialist software applications and databases, such as Reportal, SI-net, Blackboard and Uni-task, or an ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, would be advantageous. Well-developed organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a high and diverse workload, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail when approaching tasks. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of individuals, including students, colleagues, and senior university staff. Demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for providing excellent and accurate client service, along with a proven ability to exercise tact and sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality. Proven experience in working effectively within a team environment, contributing to objectives, and fostering a positive and inclusive team culture, along with a willingness to adapt, showing flexibility and a readiness to support team members as needed.
