Be part of a collaborative research initiative between MCRI, The University of Copenhagen, and Leiden University Medical Centre The opportunity: MCRI Stem Cell Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Research Assistant Scientist to join the newly established Functional Phosphoproteomics Lab. This interdisciplinary research group is at the forefront of cutting-edge biomedical research, focusing on stem cell models of human disease, large-scale drug screens, and mass spectrometry analysis. As a Research Assistant Scientist, you will play a vital role in supporting our dynamic team and contributing to ground-breaking research projects. Furthermore, this position comes with the exciting opportunity to participate as a member of The Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Stem Cell Medicine, also known as reNEW, a tripartite collaborative research Centre between MCRI, The University of Copenhagen, and Leiden University Medical Centre (https://renew.science/) established to develop safe and effective stem cell-based therapies. Your responsibilities include: Support large-scale drug screens conducted by the research group Create and execute standard operating procedures for processing a high volume of biological samples, utilizing robotic and liquid handling systems, in collaboration with computational team members Prepare samples for mass spectrometry analysis as per established protocols. Maintain laboratory stocks, including buffers, reagents, standards, and cell lines What we need from you: Degree/Honours/Masters qualification in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline Appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation Knowledge and proficiency in cell culture, cell biology, and protein biochemistry Basic knowledge of pharmacological and drug screening concepts Eagerness to lean and a proactive attitude Any specific questions related to this position should be directed to Sean Humphrey at sean.humphrey@mcri.edu.au.
