About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the Advocate/Guardian is to act as adelegated guardian for protected people under the principles of theGuardian and Administration Act 1993 (the Act). TheAdvocate/Guardian is to ensure that all decisions are made inaccordance with section 5 principles within the Act, which guidethe way in which decisions are made for protected people.
Maintain a case load of protected persons under directedsupervision whilst applying sound judgement and initiative whenmaking supported or substitute decisions for protected persons.
Write timely and accurate case notes, reports including decisionmaking documents, reports under section 57 and section 28 of theGAA Act.
Attend SACAT hearings to provide opinion about the need fororders and appropriateness of appointing the Public Advocate asGuardian of last resort.
Consult with Senior Advocate/Guardian where decision is assessedwith a high level of risk. - Transfer clients to monitoring statusonce stabilised.
Consult with protected person, family and other interestedparties and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of thepersons past and present wishes
The duties may be varied within the AHP1-AHP2 classificationscommensurate with the successful candidate’s skills andexperience

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificateclearance that the AGD finds satisfactory.
