Occupation: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services Reference: VG/JE20044583GD1 Job posted: 03/10/2024 Closes: 17/10/2024 Classification: VPSG5 Salary Range: $109,730 - $132,764 About the role: This is a designated position.In accordance with Special Measures of section 12 of the Equal Opportunities Act 2010, only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.The Capability Department of Victoria Police enhances both service delivery and community safety through proactively identifying, developing, and implementing organisational and frontline support strategies, initiatives, and reforms.This role within PSD will have a responsibility for work within the Aboriginal Communities Portfolio, to provide support and information sharing across the Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (ACLO) and Police Aboriginal Liaison Officer (PALO) Network and will be required to engage with key stakeholders across the organisation and external community stakeholders.Your duties will include: Operate as a centralised support for state-wide ACLOs to offer cultural advice and guidance.Develop and maintain knowledge of Aboriginal issues and maintain a contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.Provide a consistent governance process to standardise practice for state-wide ACLOs and PALOs.Manage, drive, and assist in the development of continuous improvement strategies.Establish and maintain effective partnerships with community key stakeholders, ACLOs, PALOs, and Victoria Police.Contribute to establishing effective communication and networking between the state-wide ACLOs, PALOs, Victoria Police, Aboriginal community, and government and non-government agencies.Support the state-wide delivery of the Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training.Attend relevant forums, meetings, and community events.Prepare written reports as required.
