The Opportunity
We have an excitingopportunity for a Senior Veterinary Officer (Diagnostic Services)to be part of our Biosecurity Division within PIRSA. The rolereports to the Diagnostic Services Manager.
The role of the Diagnostic Services Senior Veterinary Officer isto support the delivery of veterinary diagnostic services for PIRSAAnimal Biosecurity, including building PIRSA’s capacity torespond to the risk posed by emergency animal diseases (EADs).
What you’ll be working on:
You willwork with other PIRSA staff and service providers on the deliveryof veterinary diagnostic services to ensure effective surveillanceand monitoring of animal health in South Australia.
You will assist with day-to-day management of the interface withthe laboratory contractor for diagnostic services provision toPIRSA and provide technical advice to animal biosecurity programs.You will also develop policy frameworks and operating guidelinesfor testing and reporting of emergency animal diseases and planningfor EAD diagnostic testing and reporting during an EAD response
You will also be required to assist with laboratory serviceprovision for other hazards and to participate in emergencyresponses.

Requirements
1. Essential : Degree in Veterinary Science
2. Desirable: Post-graduate qualifications and/or experience in veterinary diagnostics
3. To be eligible for this position applicants must be an Australian Citizen or hold a visa that permits you to work in Australia
4. Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
5. Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
6. You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations
