About the Department About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres. This position sits within the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA). The VRQA is Victoria's education and training regulator. They are an independent statutory authority that works to assure the quality of education and training in Victoria. About the Division The VRQA register: School education providers, including approval on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) for courses delivered by schools Senior secondary education providers (both school and non-school providers) including approval on CRICOS for school sector courses School boarding premises Children for home schooling in Victoria Organisations to award senior secondary qualifications Vocational education and training (VET) providers that deliver accredited training to domestic students in Victoria only, or Victoria and Western Australia only. They also: • appoint review bodies • regulate apprenticeships and traineeships in Victoria • monitor group training organisations in Victoria • approve school and non-school providers as overseas secondary student exchange organisations • accredit courses and register qualifications for VRQA-registered providers and senior secondary courses and qualifications in Victoria • investigate complaints against our registered providers • maintain a register of all education and training organisations we register and the accredited courses they deliver • act to protect the interests of students as consumers of education or training services. About the Role This role has a focus on internal communications and events. It is responsible for the planning, curation and development of content for use across all VRQA's internal channels including executive update emails and all-staff events. The VRQA Communications Unit is a small team that leads strategic communications activities and stakeholder engagement to contribute to the successful implementation of regulatory reforms in the education and training sector. As such, the role must also collaborate with colleagues to support the creation of engaging content for use across all the VRQA's external communications channels. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, your skills will contribute to the delivery of strategic activities that support our key stakeholders and regulated entities, including: • internal and departmental staff • education and training providers • the apprenticeship and traineeship system • parents of home schooled children. Desirable Qualifications and Experience It is desirable that applicants hold a Bachelor's degree or relevant tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or journalism and/or have at least 5 years equivalent professional experience.
