About the Job Are you ready to be part of an exciting new venture? The Queensland Government is supporting Circular Economy infrastructure by funding Salvos Stores to establish Australia’s first textile sorting and decommissioning plant at Carole Park, QLD. This facility will sort textiles, remove buttons and zippers, and customise end products for textile recycling and helping to close the loop on circularity. This initiative, aptly named Salvos Boomerang, aims to reduce textile waste in landfills, promote a circular economy, and raise awareness of the environmental impact of textiles. We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager with a sound knowledge of textiles and a passion for sustainability and social impact to join Salvos Boomerang. You will be the face of our global engagement and be responsible for developing strategic partnerships and market development by aligning business goals with industry opportunities. Use your proven track record and experience to Research and analyse the needs of each customer to achieve a high conversion rate on contracts, tailoring solutions to meet their specific requirements. Be the first point of contact for clients, establishing strong, lasting relationships that ensure long term success of Salvos Boomerang. Act as the voice of the customer within the business, ensuring their needs and feedback shape our strategies, and foster a culture of innovation, adaptability and excellence. Identify and drive growth strategies that use global insight and emerging industry trends. Work closely with senior leaders, facility supervisors and community stakeholders to optimise the customer experience and business performance of Salvos Boomerang. Identify and leverage government and industry incentives related to recycling and sustainability. Achieve yearly profit targets, driving the success of Salvos Boomerang. This role focuses on driving growth and sustainability by attracting new business, emerging industries, and partners to the project while advancing the mission of environmental sustainability and circular fashion. About You 5 years’ experience in a business development role, sales and account management, ideally in the textile or sustainability industries. Proven ability to develop and implement strategies that attract business, government interest and funding, education and corporate initiatives. You will possess excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills and be confident and competent in representing Salvos Boomerang at industry events, trade shows and conferences, acting as an advocate for sustainable textile recycling. Aptitude for conducting thorough market research to build robust industry knowledge and informed business strategies. Strong negotiation skills that enable you to secure favourable outcomes for the company. Flexibility to attend events and meetings outside regular AEST hours, including domestic and international travel.
