About the role: The Research Fellow will lead the initiation, design, and execution of high-quality research focused on disaster-affected communities. This project, in partnership with Australian Business Volunteers (ABV), will investigate the role of volunteers and business actors in facilitating effective community-led recovery. The research will examine the perspectives and experiences of community members and skilled external business volunteers to identify factors that contribute to successful business volunteering in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. As an integral member of a dynamic research team, the Research Fellow will spearhead collaborative research initiatives aimed at generating novel outcomes. This position is suited to a researcher keen to explore and build on new areas and foster research and researcher development to have real-world impact and contribute to a dynamic and enthusiastic research team. Applicants who reside within the East Gippsland area are preferable. As a Research Fellow, you will: Support and lead applications for research and creative activities, including external competitive funding and commercialization efforts, demonstrating sustained efforts. Build a national reputation through a growing, focused body of work recognized for quality, excellence, and timely delivery of outcomes for industry partners. Initiate, design, conduct, and lead interdisciplinary research collaborations and industry partnerships to enable major breakthroughs and innovative solutions for real-world impact. Supervise and mentor honours and HDR students for timely completions, high-quality outcomes, and professional development, while promoting a culture of research excellence and industry partnerships. Demonstrate timely delivery of commercialization and translation outcomes, contributing to positive impact and national recognition. Alongside varied tasks and responsibilities, this role will include: literature reviews and context analysis managing schedules and identifying participants for interviews, focus groups and surveys interview and focus group coding qualitative and quantitative data analysis project partner engagement and communication, and project management tasks including reporting requirements and aspects of budget management.
