The Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport (ALMT) Program is responsible for the Bureau's business relationships with service delivery partners, government stakeholders, and both domestic and international customers operating in the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport sectors.In particular, the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport Program is the sole provider of aviation meteorological services to the aviation industry within the Australian Flight Information Regions.Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs) require pilots to plan flights using Bureau products.The Bureau's aviation services also contribute to meeting Australia's obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.Reporting direct to the General Manager, the Bureau is seeking an experienced individual who can ensure the effective delivery of aviation meteorological services within Australian and regional domains.The role has responsibility for over 100 employees across four teams located in Brisbane and Melbourne.These teams are the Brisbane and Melbourne Aviation Forecasting Centres, the Hazardous Weather Unit (including the Bureau's Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre), and the Service Development and Optimisation team.The successful applicant will have outstanding leadership, a deep understanding regarding the importance of continuous improvement in the delivery of operational services supporting an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, and an ability to manage and prioritise 24/7 operations.An understanding of the aviation industry and working knowledge in operational meteorology is not essential but would be advantageous.This position requires a motivated individual with outstanding communication skills, a high degree of initiative and the ability to self-manage.Experience managing 24/7 operations, establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders dispersed across the business, and employing a consultative and influencing approach, is essential.#J-18808-Ljbffr
