Centacare Family Services offers relationship and community services to individuals, couples, and families. As a Catholic agency, we provide professional assistance in a manner that promotes human dignity and enhances growth and wellbeing.
Centacare Family Services is currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced Children’s Contact Service workers to join our Geraldton-based team.
A remuneration package based on the SCHCADS Award 2010 will be offered based on skills and experience; level 3 $46.69/hour plus casual loading, penalties (as applicable), and superannuation.
These casual positions will involve hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays.
Key Functions
* Oversee the exchange of children between separated parents in situations of conflict or family violence.
* Supervise contact visits between parents and children where abuse, mental health, drug and alcohol use, or parenting issues have been raised.
* Ensure a high quality of service delivery, and client focus is maintained consistent with funding and budgetary guidelines as provided by the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department and Department of Social Services (DSS).
Selection Criteria: Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Community Services or similar qualification in a related community service field. Consideration can be given to applicants currently undertaking this qualification or with related experience.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
Selection Criteria: Skills & Experience
* Sound verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to record and summarise objective observations.
* Knowledge and experience working with families experiencing relationship difficulties, including a sound knowledge of family violence, mental health issues, drug, and alcohol addiction.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills to support and empower clients, including the demonstrated ability to de-escalate high conflict situations that arise.
* Ability to work effectively with other team members.
* Ability to be neutral, impartial, and non-judgmental.
* Work effectively in a stressful environment; deal confidently with clients.
* Knowledge of problems associated with separated parents in high conflict and the impact of this on children.
* Knowledge of child protection and child development.
* Ability to work within the philosophy and ethos of Centacare.
Successful applicants will hold, or be able to obtain, a WA Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance no older than 12 months, and a current WA Driver’s License.
