Reporting to the Ombudsman and working in partnership with the two Deputy Ombudsman, the Director, Corporate Services (DCS) will provide organisation-wide leadership and strategic direction. The DCS will also ensure the effective governance and alignment of the Victorian Ombudsman’s (VO’s) Corporate functions with the strategic direction of the organisation.

The Organisation:
The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to the public. Our purpose is to ensure fairness for the public in their dealings with the Victorian public sector, to improve public administration, and engage within both public organisations, the government sector and the broader community.
The VO's role is to ensure that the services of state and local government, and other public organisations are delivered in a fair and reasonable manner that is compatible with the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic) and that human rights have been taken into consideration in decision making.
The VO is governed by the Ombudsman Act 1973 (Vic). The VO is independent of Government and answerable to the Victorian Parliament, in part through the Integrity and Oversight Committee of the Parliament.
The role:
Reporting to the Ombudsman and working in partnership with the two Deputy Ombudsman, the Director, Corporate Services (DCS) will provide organisation-wide leadership and strategic direction. The DCS will also ensure the effective governance and alignment of the Victorian Ombudsman's (VO's) Corporate functions with the strategic direction of the organisation.
The DCS has specific oversight and responsibility for VO's Corporate Function which includes Knowledge & Technology, Governance & Risk, Finance & Procurement and People & Culture.
The DCS will have substantial leadership experience at a senior level with highly developed communication and presentation skills, a demonstrated ability to establish and lead high performing corporate service teams whilst building capability to meet organisational needs.
